Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 690982
Event: 10/07/1986
Employee breaks hip in fall through roof

Employee #1, an SOS employee working for Paulsen Roofing, was part of a crew that was reroofing a 40-year-old building. He was talking to two foremen, who were about to sign him out for the day. While the one of the foremen went to get a pen to sign out Employee #1, the other foreman and Employee #1 started to walk away. Instead of stepping from some plywood onto the roof support, Employee #1 stepped onto some Sheetrock. He broke through three layers of Sheetrock, falling 20 ft and fracturing his hip.
