ON JULY 31, 1986, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS UNLOADING A CEMENT TRUCK INTO A CAISSON WHILE ANOTHER EMPLOYEE WAS REPOSITIONING A BACKHOE. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS STRUCK BY THE BACKHOE BUCKET DURING THE REPOSITIONING PROCESS AND SUFFERED INTERNAL INJURIES. HE DIED OF HIS INJURIES ON AUGUST 27, 1986.
