Event: 11/04/1986
ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE

A FOREMAN AND ANOTHER EMPLOYEE RENTED AN AERIAL LIFT TO INSTALL SHEET METAL RAIN SPOUT ON AN OLD BUILDING. THE FOREMAN PLACED THE STEEL AERIAL PLATFORM BETWEEN THE BUILDING AND AN ADJACENT OVERHEAD POWER LINE THAT WAS RUN ON POLES ABOUT 15 FEET FROM THE BUILDING. THE FOREMAN, WHO WAS IN THE PLATFORM, ELEVATED IT AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE IT BETWEEN THE POWER LINE CONDUCTORS. THE TOP CONDUCTOR WAS A 6720-VOLT DISTRIBUTION LINE, AND THE THREE CONDUCTORS 10 FEET BELOW IT WERE LOWER VOLTAGE SECONDARIES. THE FOREMAN'S HEAD CONTACTED THE TOP OVERHEAD POWER LINE, AND HE WAS ELECTROCUTED.
