Employee killed when struck by falling logs

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 18, 1987, Employee #1 and a coworker were loading a pole trailer with timber. The coworker was loading the trailer with a Prentice 210 log loader but stopped when Employee #1 failed to install extensions on the trailer stakes. The coworker found Employee #1 lying between the timber stack and trailer. He had been struck by timber and was pronounced dead at the scene. The coworker recalled that several logs had fallen off during the operation. It was not known why Employee #1 walked under a suspended load of lumber.
