Employee's fingertips amputated in jump saw

Employee #1 was cutting a 1 by 6 in. piece of lumber with a jump saw. The lumber is used to manufacture playground equipment. While placing the lumber in the saw from the wrong side, Employee #1 accidentally hit the one-hand control that actuated the hold-down device. Two of Employee #1's fingertips were amputated.
