CONSTRUCTION WORKER KILLED IN FALL FROM GIRDER

TWO IRON WORKERS WERE MOVING STEEL ROOF DECK SHEETS IN PREPARATION FOR ESTABLISHING A SAFE PLATFORM FROM WHICH TO WORK ON PARAPET FRAMES. THE EMPLOYEES WERE SHAKING OUT THE LAST (THIRD) SHEET (25 FEET, 10 INCHES LONG AND 37 INCHES WIDE) WHEN THE END BEING HANDLED BY EMPLOYEE #1 CAUGHT ON THE STACKED BUNDLE OF SHEETS. THE ENSUING REBOUND CAUSED EMPLOYEE #1 TO STUMBLE BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER BUNDLE OF SHEETS. HE THEN LOST HIS BALANCE AND FELL APPROXIMATELY 28 FEET FROM THE STEEL GIRDER TO THE GROUND. HE WAS KILLED.
