ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE

A LINEMAN WAS RAISING HIMSELF IN AN AERIAL LIFT TO AN OVERHEAD POWER LINE. HE HAD REMOVED ALL HIS RUBBER SAFETY GEAR. THE NEUTRAL WIRE GOT CAUGHT ON THE TOOL BRACKET ON THE BUCKET. THE EMPLOYEE REACHED DOWN TO PUSH THE WIRE OFF WHEN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD CONTACTED THE 7620-VOLT PHASE CONDUCTOR, ELECTROCUTING THE LINEMAN.
