ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE THRU BOOM

A CONCRETE PUMPER TRUCK CONCRETE PLACEMENT FIRM WAS DELIVERING CONCRETE TO A DRAINAGE DITCH. THE CONCRETE TRUCK OPERATOR WAS USING THE TRUCK'S BOOM EXTENDED OVER A ROAD TO POUR THE CONCRETE. TWO EMPLOYEES OF A DIFFERENT CONCRETE COMPANY WERE HANDLING THE HOSE AT THE END OF THE BOOM TO DIRECT THE PLACEMENT OF THE CONCRETE. THE BOOM CONTACTED A 7620-VOLT OVERHEAD POWER LINE. THE TWO EMPLOYEES HOLDING THE HOSE RECEIVED ELECTRIC SHOCKS. ONE OF THEM WAS ELECTROCUTED; THE OTHER RECEIVED SEVERE BURNS AND WAS HOSPITALIZED IN CRITICAL CONDITION.
