SEVEN EMPLOYEES OVER EXPOSED TO CARBON MONOXIDE

On November 17, 1987, seven employees working near the shipping and receiving department were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. The company had been using three propane-powered industrial trucks, but two of the propane-powered industrial trucks had been replaced with rented electric industrial trucks. The one remaining propane powered industrial truck was used only in the shipping and receiving department and with the overhead door kept open while it was in operation. The other potential sources of carbon monoxide were the heating units.
