ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD POWER LINE

A TWO-MAN CREW WAS ASSIGNED TO REPAIR A DOWNED 7200-VOLT (PHASE-TO-GROUND) OVERHEAD POWER LINE. THE LINE WAS LYING ON WET BUSHES AND GRASS. THE LINEMAN WAS GOING TO THE NEAREST POLE TO DEENERGIZE THE LINE. AN EYE WITNESS STATED THAT THE LINEMAN WALKED OVER TO THE DOWNED LINE AND PICKED IT UP. HE WAS ELECTROCUTED.
