Employee dies of cardiac arrest

Employee #1 reported to work at 9:00 a.m. on his first day on the job. He spent the morning attending employee orientation classes. At noon, he reportedly took his lunch break and at approximately 1:00 p.m. he started his assigned work, assisting store customers by pushing their baskets to the parking lot and loading bags into customer's vehicles. At about 2:37 p.m., while assisting a customer loading grocery bags in her auto, he informed her that he had to stop and rest. While resting, he suddenly collapsed. An ambulance responded and paramedic and emergency medical technicians attempted to defibrillate his heart three times en route to CMC. Employee #1 was pronounced dead at CMC at 3:13 p.m. The fire chief informed CSHO that Employee #1 was in cardiac arrest when their units arrived.
