ON AUGUST 23, 1985, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:05 AM, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS IN THE PROCESS OF LOWERING A 980 RIM ASSEMBLY FROM THE PAINT LINE, USING A CLEVELAND TRAMRAIL HOIST, PENDANT OPERATED. HE WAS LOWERING AND POSITIONING THE PART ONTO A PALLET. THE PALLET WAS LOCATED NEAR THE AISLE WHERE FORKLIFT TRAFFIC IS HEAVY. THE FORKLIFT DRIVER WAS TRAVELING IN REVERSE, WITH A LOAD, FROM EAST TO WEST. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS WORKING AT THE WEST END. THE FORKLIFT STRUCK EMPLOYEE #1. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.
