Abstract: At approximately 10:30 a.m. on July 30, 1991, Employees #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 were working in the food preparation area while technicians cleaned and repaired an air conditioning system. To clean the unit, the technicians applied a coil cleaner that contained phosphoric and hydrofluoric acids to the unit. The acids reacted with the aluminum on the unit and created a vapor that seeped through the unit's duct. The employees inhaled the vapors and were hospitalized.
