Abstract: At 4:00 p.m. on July 21, 2010, Employee #1 was a regular full-time employee of Ralph Collazo Packing, Inc., in Huron, CA. The employer was a farm labor contractor doing business throughout central and southern California, and Employee #1 was working as a farm worker. Employee #1's work schedule was from 6:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Around 3:00 p.m., he started to experience dizziness, nausea, and blurry eyes while he was harvesting cantaloupes. He was transported to Coalinga Regional Medical Center by private vehicle. After triage evaluation by the emergency room staff, he was transported to Fresno Regional Community Medical Center for higher-level treatment of preexisting medical conditions unrelated to heat stress or strain.
