At 11:16 a.m. on July 5, 2017, an employee was distilling a batch of single malt and brewing a beer while working in the distillery and brewery areas of the sto re. The employee was operating a 1,000-liter still with the still hatch door cl osed and heated steam supplied from a boiler in the boiler room. Fluids were le aking from the edge of the hatch and the employee was trying to tighten a replac ement clamp on the still's door. The employee suffered second and third degree burns on his right hand, neck, chest, abdomen and back when he was drenched by t he escaping heated gases and fluids. The employee was hospitalized.
