The grantee will provide 2-hour to 6-hour training on workplace violence prevention and workplace violence risk assessment and investigation. Three training modules will be developed to address workplace violence in acute care hospitals, psychiatric/long term health care facilities, and home health care. Topics will include how to implement a workplace violence prevention program in a healthcare setting.  
Asian Health Services Oakland CA $75,000 Hair and Nail Salon Hazards
The grantee will deliver a 2-hour train-the-trainer course and 2-hour awareness training to workers in the nail and salon industry. Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, low-literacy, minority and other hard-to-reach workers. Training topics will include best work practices, ergonomics, biological hazards, and workers' rights under OSHA. Training materials will include PowerPoint presentations, instructor guides, and participant guides and exercises. Training will be provided in English and Vietnamese.
Asian Immigrant Women Advocates Inc Oakland CA $55,000 Ergonomic Hazards & Workplace Violence
The grantee will offer a 2-day train-the-trainer class to 10 peer trainers who will then present 4-hour ergonomic and workplace violence training to vulnerable Asian women working in the homecare, manufacturing, and food service industries in California. Target audience includes low-literacy, limited English proficiency, and hard-to-reach vulnerable women. Pre-existing training materials will be translated into Chinese and Korean. Training will be offered in English, Chinese, and Korean.
Associated General Contractors of America Inc Arlington VA $135,000 Construction Road Zones
The grantee will offer 7.5-hour highway work zone safety training to road construction workers, company officers, and managers. Training will be offered nationwide. Target audience includes low-literacy and limited English proficiency road construction workers. The training will review OSHA standards, proper set up of highway work zones, flagger safety, and heavy equipment management. A CD of the training materials will be developed for distribution in class. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
Brazilian Immigrant Center Inc Allston MA $99,875 Fall Prevention in Construction
The applicant will provide fall prevention training in residential construction training to vulnerable workers and employers in New England. Target audience includes small business and Portuguese and Spanish speaking vulnerable workers. Training topics will include an introduction to fall prevention, working on roofing with emphasis on residential construction, proper use of fall arrest systems, ladders, scaffolds, and worker rights.  Previously developed materials will be used. Training will be provided in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The grantee will provide 1.1-hour workplace violence training to farmworkers and dairy workers in California. Target audience includes limited English proficiency, low-literacy, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers. Training materials will include a trainer manual, problem solving scenario cards, a PowerPoint presentation, placards addressing key training elements and concepts, and a workplace violence prevention flyer. Materials and training will be provided in both English and Spanish.

The grantee will deliver 4-hour training on chemical hazards and hazard communication with an emphasis on Globally Harmonized System to construction workers in Texas. Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, minority, and hard-to-reach workers. Training materials will include a student manual and PowerPoint presentations on hazard communication, chemical overview, exposure limits, and hazard control. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation Atlanta GA $139,958 Temporary Worker Hazards
The grantee will offer 6-hour awareness training on occupational hazards encountered by temporary workers to workers, staffing agencies, and host employers throughout the southeastern United States. Target audience includes hard-to-reach workers and workers in high-hazard industries. Training materials will emphasize audio-visual materials and hands-on workshops to ensure effective communication to low-literacy employees. Training will be provided in English.
Latino Worker Resource Center Hillside IL $136,300 Fall Prevention in Construction
The grantee will offer 4-hour fall prevention training to Latino residential construction workers in Illinois. Target audience includes small businesses, hard-to-reach workers, limited English proficiency, low-literacy, and temporary workers. Training topics will include use of personal fall arrest systems, safety nets, and unprotected floor and wall openings. Training materials will include instructor manuals, student manuals, PowerPoint presentations, and classroom exercises. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
Legal Aid Justice Center Charlottesville VA $138,560 Fall Protection in Construction & Heat Illness
The grantee will present 1-hour fall prevention in construction training to day laborers and will also provide heat illness training to day laborers and migrant farmworkers in Virginia. Target audience includes low-literacy, limited English proficiency, and temporary workers. Existing training materials, developed by previous Harwood grantees, will be adapted for use. Training topics will also include workers' rights under OSHA and Virginia's OSHA requirements. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health Dorchester MA $139,138 Workplace Violence
The grantee will provide 1.5-hour employer, 2-hour worker, and 4-hour train-the-trainer classes on workplace violence. Target audience includes small businesses, young workers, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers. Plan to revise existing training materials. Training materials will include handouts that are accessible for low-literacy youth and adult participants.  Training topics will include an introduction to hazard identification, prevention, and mitigation of workplace violence. Training will be provided in English.

The grantee will offer 6-hour warehouse hazards training to structural steel fabrication and steel service center workers. Target audience includes small businesses and limited English proficiency workers. Training topics will include the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, material handling including forklifts and overhead cranes, lockout/tag-out procedures, respiratory protection, electrical safety, and hazard communication. Training and materials will be provided in both English and Spanish. 
Mohawk Valley Community College Utica NY $139,870 Workplace Violence
The grantee will present 3-hour workplace violence training to workers in the healthcare, construction, and manufacturing industries in central New York State. Target audience includes small businesses, minority, hard-to-reach, limited English proficiency, and young workers. Plan to revise existing training materials to meet the needs of the project's target audience. Training and materials will be provided in English, Bosnian, and Burmese.
National Roofing Contractors Association Rosemont IL $137,000 Fall Prevention in Construction
The grantee will deliver 7.5-hour fall protection in construction training to workers and employers in the roofing industry. Target audience includes small businesses, workers in high-hazard industries, minority, and limited English proficiency workers. Plan to update existing materials to include new OSHA requirements for residential roofing. Training topics will include asphalt fumes, silica, lead, and asbestos. The grantee will to offer 3-hour Introduction to OSHA training, 4-hour bloodborne pathogens training, and 3-hour safe patient handling/ergonomics training to workers and employers in hospitals, nursing homes, and residential care facilities in New Mexico. Target audience includes small businesses, hard-to-reach, and limited English proficiency workers. Plan to revise existing training materials. Plan to revise existing materials including PowerPoint presentations, student handouts, and participatory exercises, and conduct hands-on demonstrations. Training will be provided in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The grantee will provide 10-hour train-the-trainer and 7-hour worker training on multiple topics to healthcare workers and employers in Colorado. Target audience includes small businesses, minorities, and hard-to-reach workers. Training topics will include safe patient handling, ergonomics, bloodborne pathogens, walking and working surfaces, emergency evacuation plans, hazard communication, and workplace violence. Plan to use existing training materials and develop some new materials. Training will be provided in English.
Red Rocks Community College Lakewood CO $139,148 Oil and Gas Production
The grantee will present a 21-hour train-the-trainer class called "Tools for Hazard On-the-job-training" to oil and gas extraction and production crew foremen in Colorado and North Dakota. Crew foremen will train field workers. Target audience includes young, temporary, limited English proficiency, and low-literacy workers. Plan to revise existing materials. Training will include scenario-based exercises, videos of actual incidents, and case studies. Training will be in English and Spanish.

The grantee will offer 2-hour to 7.5-hour workplace hazards training to temporary workers and their employers in New York and New Jersey. Training topics will include employee rights under OSHA, employer responsibilities, hazard communication, emergency action plans, electrical hazards, and vehicular hazards. Plan to adapt existing materials. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.

The grantee will provide 2.5-hour ergonomic hazards on materials handling training to workers and employers in the timber products manufacturing industry. Training materials will include an Ergonomics Application (App), PowerPoint presentations, a sample ergonomics program, and a job analysis worksheet. Training will be provided in English.

The grantee will present 3.5- and 6.5-hour electrical hazards and aerial lift safety training to workers and employers in the landscaping and tree care industries. Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, and low-literacy workers. Plan to use some existing materials and develop new materials. Training topics will include work practices near utility lines, aerial lift inspection, and driving. Training materials will include workbooks and quizzes. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Washington DC $133,073 Ergonomic Hazards & Workplace Violence
The grantee will provide 2- and 8-hour ergonomics training, 1- to 4-hour workplace violence training, and a 16-hour train-the-trainer class to workers in food processing, meatpacking, poultry, and retail industries. Target audience includes young, limited English proficiency, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers. Topics will include how to identify risk factors and effective interventions. Plan to modify existing training materials. Training will be available in English, Spanish, and an Asian-Pacific Islander language.

The grantee will offer 6-hour safety training to workers in the tree care and landscape industries in Georgia. Target audience includes small and new businesses, Hispanic, low-literacy, temporary, young, and hard-to-reach workers. Training topics will include chainsaw safety and cutting techniques, ladder safety, work positioning, aerial lift operations, and small tree felling. Plan to use existing training materials that are illustrated for low-literacy and limited English proficiency workers. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus San Juan PR $139,960 Temporary Worker Hazards
The grantee will provide 3-hour safety training to temporary workers in both construction and general industries in Puerto Rico. Target audience includes small businesses, low-literacy workers, and workers in high-hazard industries. Training topics will include workers rights, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, and fall protection. Existing materials will be used to develop a graphical reference manual and a PowerPoint presentation. Training will be provided in Spanish.
University of Southern Maine Portland ME $131,704 Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and Residential Care Facilities
The grantee will offer three 1-hour web-based training programs on bloodborne pathogens, respiratory hazards, and ergonomics for emergency medical services personnel. Target audience includes workers in high-hazard occupations. Training will be available at any time and anywhere with an internet connection. The online training modules will include links to relevant handouts and to organizations and Web sites that can offer additional information on the topic. Training will be provided in English.
University of Texas at Arlington Arlington TX $139,917 Oil and Gas Production
The grantee will present two 1.5-hour modules on fall protection and on-site motorized vehicle safety training to workers and employers in the oil and gas industry in OSHA Region VI. Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, hard-to-reach, and low-literacy workers. Plan to revise existing training materials to allow for more pictograms, videos, discussion, hands-on demonstrations, and student participation in short exercises. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
University of Texas at El Paso El Paso TX $139,960 Fall Prevention in Construction
The grantee will deliver 1.5-hour and 3-hour fall prevention training to workers and employers in residential and commercial construction in El Paso. Target audience includes workers in high-hazard industries and limited English proficiency workers. Plan to use existing training materials. Training topics will include recognizing fall hazards, fall protection requirements, understanding restraint and arrest, how to inspect and wear fall arrest equipment, and anchorage point requirements. Training will be provided in Spanish.
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston San Antonio TX $140,000 Agricultural Safety including Grain Handling Operations
The grantee will provide 1- and 2-hour dairy farm safe work practices training to workers and managers on dairy farms in New Mexico and Texas. Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, low-literacy, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers. Plan to use safety video vignettes on mobile devices to train workers on dairy farm hazards. Plan to develop an online Dairy Farm Safety Toolkit. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
Voces de la Frontera Milwaukee WI $140,000 Ergonomic Hazards
The grantee will present 7.5-hour train-the-trainer and 1- to 2-hour ergonomics training to workers in the manufacturing, construction, and restaurant industries in Illinois and Wisconsin. Target audience includes limited English proficiency, low-literacy, and minority workers. Plan to revise existing Harwood grant materials and translate them into Spanish, Polish, Hmong, and Burmese. Training will be provided in these languages.
Waubonsee Community College Sugar Grove IL $119,505 Temporary Worker Hazards
The grantee will provide 3- and 4-hour training on temporary worker hazards to workers and employers in Illinois. Target audience includes small businesses, minority, low-literacy, limited English proficiency, and other hard-to-reach temporary workers. Training topics will include worker rights under OSHA, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication including GHS, materials handling, ergonomics, and fire safety. Training will include participatory activities. Training will be provided in both English and Spanish.
Wayne State University Detroit MI $139,995 Chemical Hazards and/or Hazard Communication 
The grantee will present 1-hour and 2-hour training on Hazard Communication and Globally Harmonized System for operating engineers, other construction trades, and facilities management personnel in Michigan. Target audience includes workers in high-hazard industries. Training will be delivered primarily through an Internet-based mobile training delivery system. Training and materials will be provided in English and Spanish.

The grantee will develop a 4-hour temporary worker hazards training course for general industry workers. The training package will include PowerPoint presentations, instructor's guide, participant manual, and materials for classroom activities. Training topics will include the hazards of heavy industrial environments, workers rights under OSHA, heat stress, hazard communication, machinery hazards, fall prevention, electrical safety, material handling, and ergonomics. Training materials will also be translated into Spanish.
Roofers and Waterproofers Research and Education Joint Trust Washington DC $47,700 Chemical Hazards and/or Hazard Communication & Heat Illness
The grantee will develop two 1-hour modules on hazard communication/GHS and heat illness for workers in the roofing industry.  Each module will consist of an instructor presentation, instructor guide, and trainee booklet. Heat Illness module will address roofing processes and associated heat hazards, protective practices, and emergency response. Hazard Communication module will cover the updated Hazard Communication standard, pictograms, and improved labeling. Materials will also be available in Spanish.
Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service College Station TX $50,000 Construction Road Zones
The grantee will develop a 4-hour Construction Road Zone Safety course for heavy equipment operators. Training materials will include instructor and student manuals, tests, handouts, and a PowerPoint presentation. Training topics will include slips and falls on heavy equipment, struck-by and caught-between hazards, proper mounting and dismounting from equipment, communication including hand signals, equipment backing, speed of travel, preventing electrocutions from overhead power lines, and buried electrical lines.
Western Nebraska Community College Scottsbluff NE $49,946 Warehouse Worker Hazards
The grantee will develop four 3-hour modules on safety hazards for warehouse workers in the manufacturing industry. Training will be broken into four modules: Module 1 - Pallet Racking Operations Overview, Module 2 - Material Handling Equipment, Module 3 - Machine Guarding and Energy Isolation (lockout/tagout), and Module 4 - Train-the-Trainer. Training materials will include PowerPoint presentations and a video on pallet handling safety. Training materials will be developed in English and Spanish.
