IV. Upcoming Milestones
In the upcoming year, OSHA and NALP plan to undertake several additional projects through the Alliance to provide NALP members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of workers, particularly by reducing and preventing exposure to manual material handling and slip, trip and fall hazards; and addressing motor vehicle safety issues. For example, NALP will continue to support OSHA’s national outreach campaigns focusing on the prevention of heat illness in outdoor workers; and the prevention of falls in construction, including support for National Safety Stand-Down-Week- May 2-6, 2016. Through the Alliance, NALP will develop Safety Tips Cards focusing on the transportation of chemicals, and the safe fueling of landscaping vehicles. NALP will also develop a 10-hour training course for workers focusing on the safety and health issues in the landscaping industry. Lastly, NALP will provide OSHA staff with an Alliance exhibit at the Landscapes 2016 conference on October 19-21, in Louisville, Kentucky.
