    4. Alliance Overview and Goals

      Through the Alliance, OSHA, TJC, and JCR aim to provide information and access to resources that will safeguard the health and safety of the healthcare workforce against occupational hazards such as musculoskeletal disorders from patient handling; workplace violence; bloodborne pathogens; tuberculosis; slips, trips, and falls; and others as appropriate.

    In addition to these formal meetings, the Alliance coordinators from both groups maintained regular contact throughout the reporting period to monitor the Alliance's progress and results.

    Dissemination: Alliance Program participant shared information on agency-developed or OSHA Alliance Program-developed tools and resources, Initiatives focusing on OSHA standards/rulemakings, enforcement, and outreach campaigns.

  4. Alliance Developed Products

    • Handling with Care: Practicing Safe Patient Handling. Environment of Care News, (2017, August). This article discusses musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in healthcare settings and describes strategies for implementing a safe patient handling and movement program.
    • As a Partner for Safe + Sound Week 2017, TJC/JCR collaborated with OSHA's Directorate of Standards and Guidance (DSG) in developing a Fact Sheet with Healthcare Safety Statistics.
