Background, History, and Charter

The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) is a continuing advisory body established under Section 3704, paragraph (d), of the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act (40 U.S.C. 3701 et seq., commonly known as the Construction Safety Act [CSA]) to advise the Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health with respect to setting construction standards and policy matters affecting federally financed or assisted construction. Under the CSA, the Assistant Secretary appoints nine members to ACCSH, three to represent employees, three to represent employers, and three to represent the public. The committee meets two to six times per calendar year for one or two days per meeting.
