standard to receive specific information relating to the feasibility
of meeting the permissible exposure limit (PEL) specified in the
lead standard [1910.1025(e)(1)] through engineering and
work-practice controls in nine industry sectors. Written comments
will be received until September 2, 1987. An informal public hearing
will begin September 15, 1987.

include all categories of workplaces covered by OSHA standards
specifically Parts 1915, 1917, 1918, 1918, 1926 and 1928. Written

ACTION: Issuance of voluntary guidelines.

Abstract:
This notice extends the period for the submission of public comments
on the issues raised in the August 8, 1988 (53:29822) notice of
proposed rulemaking (NPRM), and for the submission of notices of
intention to appear at an informal hearing on the NPRM, from October
7, 1988, until October 28, 1988. It also reschedules the beginning
of the informal public hearing from November 13, 1988 to December 6,
1988.

Abstract:
OSHA proposes to revise the shipyard employment safety standards
addressing explosive and other dangerous atmospheres. The standards
proposed for revision regulate safe entry and work carried on in
confined spaces on board vessels in shipyards. Comments and hearing
requests are due February 27, 1989.
