Premier Outdoor Living, Inc. DBA Highwood USA originated in Tamaqua, PA as a plastic extrusion facility specializing in OEM parts for Spa Manufacturers worldwide. Highwood products are now featured in numerous settings such as homes, resorts, and amusement parks.

As Highwood USA grew, the COO was committed to placing safety at the center of their culture. She researched how other leading companies cultivated safety in their workplace cultures. Through this process, she learned about the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) and requested a safety and health consultation visit with PA OSHA Consultation.

Partnering with Consultation resulted in many successes, including:

• The implementation of the annual review processes for the job safety analysis (JSA) and risk assessments.
• Heightened awareness and knowledge of the safety culture.
• Engaging employees in the process of reporting near misses regularly as well as participating in 5-Why root cause investigations.

The company received SHARP in February 2024 and again in February of 2025. They have made pursing SHARP at their second location a priority. This commitment established groundwork for starting the new operation, making sure we were working to have a solid safety committee and safety culture throughout the plant.

The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) acknowledges small and medium-sized businesses that have used OSHA On-Site Consultation Program services and operate exemplary workplace safety and health programs.
