A Family-Owned Business Partners with Illinois On-Site Consultation to Develop Cost-Effective Operational Solution

Illinois : DOL

In 2022, Fox Valley Sandblasting and Powder Coating, a family-owned small business based in Illinois, faced the challenge of implementing cost-effective operational solutions in the wake of the pandemic.

Operating in a highly competitive market, they turned to the Illinois Department of Labor’s On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program to help them improve their safety and health program. With their resources and expertise, On-Site Consultation played a crucial role in improving the safe and healthy work environment for the employees.

Critical recommendations for improvement were made such as:

  • Establishing a plan to correct hazards.
  • Encouraging the implementation of a program to train delivery personnel in the use of securing loads and using equipment to secure trucks during loading and unloading operations.
  • Developing a safety committee comprised of management and employees.

These measures were the direct result of the On-Site Safety and Health Program visit.

"We thank you guys for all the help and education that we received on our project. We are always in need of advice. Thanks again for the team effort of On- Site. It is great that a government agency is helping small businesses like ours and many others. We look forward to the next visit."-company official.
