29 CFR 1910.22(a)(2): Floor(s) of workroom(s) were not maintained in, as far as possible, dry condition: a) Sheeting Lines- The employer did not ensure sure that the floor areas, such as on the west side of the Sheeting Line #2 Proofer, were kept in as dry as possible of a condition to prevent slips and falls. Water from the malfunctioning Proofer was leaking out of the machine on a continual basis while it was in operation and the water flowed over the walking path of the employees that operating Sheeting Line #1 and #2. b) Rack Washing Area- The employer did not ensure sure that the floor areas, such as the area in front of the East Rack Washer, were kept in as dry as possible of a condition to prevent slips and falls. The bottom seal on the East Rack Washer was deteriorated and it allowed water to flow freely out of the washer when it was in operation. In addition the ramp plate was left in place while the machine ran which allowed the water to flow over the floor area where employees had to walk. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
