Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the following conditions: (a)Falling off of the wooden pallet, attached to forklift, on which they were standing, as it was not designed to meet the requirements of a safety platform which could be secured to the lifting carriage and or forks as required by Section 513A.1 of ANSI B56.1-1975, etc. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to use proper lifting carriage that is secured to the forklift. *** Certification and Documentation of Abatement Required ***
