Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by the sled in the event of upset or overturn: a.Vicinity of Access Road # 13 and Station 2379 - Employees were riding on "sleds" which were being towed by a sideboom pipelayer, on or about 10/12/98. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to prohibit employees from riding the "sleds".s
