29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries: Location: Store Two fire extinguishers are blocked by materials and supplies and are not readily accessible to employees that are expected to use fire extinguishers. Instance 1: Back storage room next to the fire panel. Instance 2: Hallway outside of the office area and employee restroom. The employer routinely fails to assure effective protection against ensuring that fire extinguishers are readily accessible and not blocked as required by the standard, as demonstrated on or about 03/06/2020, where employees expected to use fire extinguishers were exposed to fire hazards due to, two fire extinguishers that were blocked by materials and supplies with respect to a workplace located at 450 Nashua Rd. Dracut, MA. Dollar General was previously cited for a triple repeat violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.1910.157(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1450479, Citation 1, Item 2, and was affirmed as a final order on 04/08/2020 with respect to a workplace located at 1111 N Cole St. Bushnell, IL 61422. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19 the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance; including an explanation of how these steps protect employees from life safety hazards associated with ensuring fire extinguishers are not blocked and are readily accessible.
