29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit route(s) were not kept free and unobstructed: A. On or about July 16, 2019, Back Room: In the following instances, exit routes were blocked by items placed in the exit routes: 1. Access to the nearest emergency exit from the work area near the roller conveyor was blocked by the placement of palletized product, which reduced the exit route to 18-inches near the bay doors. Product placed within the aisle reduced the exit route to 19.5-inches and 27-inches at two locations in the middle of the aisle. An employee working in the area, moving a U-Boat of product from the aisle was unable to exit until the product was removed. 2. Compactor/Baler hallway, the exit route was obstructed by the placement of red U-Boat carts full of cardboard and black plastic tubs. Access was reduced to 24-inches. The Target Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1371875, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 11, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 200 Running Hill Road, South Portland, ME.
