29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i)(A): Authorized employee(s) did not receive training in the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation: a. During sanitation department cleaning of the gizzard machine, employees were incorrectly trained to by-pass a safety switch to clean the machine while the guard covers were opened. There was no alternative lockout/tagout training on the gizzard machine. b. Sanitation employees were not provided authorized lockout/tagout training on the gizzard machines, which included two disconnects, an on/off/e-stop switch, two guard covers, and a safety switch. No formal training on the gizzard machines, was provided to any of the gizzard machine sanitation workers performing sanitation on the gizzard machines, as of and up to the time of the inspection (formal training as outlined in the employer's "Lockout/Tagout Standard HS Operational Standard" (Revision July 6, 2017) and as required by the OSHA standard). Tyson Foods, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent standard 1910.147(c)(7)(i) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 1029958 Citation 1, Item 3, issued on 6/15/2015, and became Final Order on 7/6/2015. Abatement documentation is required for this violation.
