29 CFR 1910.303(b)(8)(i): Electrical equipment was not firmly secured: a. Metallic conduit (vertically hung from the ceiling), equipment used to power the gizzard defatter, was not secured to any support or equipment. The vertical run of conduit was greater than 9 ft. b. Metallic conduit described in instance a, was attached to a junction (pull) box that was touching the overhead water line and was not secured. c. A horizontal run of conduit, attached to the junction box described in instance b, was resting on an overhead air line, was not secured within 3 ft of the junction box. The total length of conduit feeding the defatter, including the vertical and horizontal runs, was over 12 ft. (Note: NEC 314.23 and 358.30 requires securing conduit exceeding 10 ft. Conduit attached to junction boxes are required to be secured within 3 ft. of the box.) Abatement documentation is required for this violation.
