29 CFR 1926.416(a)(1): No employer shall permit an employee to work in such proximity to any part of an electric power circuit that the employee could contact the electric power circuit in the course of work, unless the employee is protected against electric shock by deenergizing the circuit and grounding it or by guarding it effectively by insulation or other means: Springs at South Elgin, 350 Gyorr Avenue, South Elgin, Illinois 60177, building no. 13, fire riser room: on or about August 7, 2018, an employee was assigned to install fire alarm system components in the immediate proximity of an energized 120V AC conductor that protruded out of an open, wall-mounted junction box. The subject wire had a stripped copper-end that was not capped or otherwise guarded to prevent inadvertent bodily contact. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
