29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer is not maintaining in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical: a) The employer, West Side Fabrication, LLC, does not maintain copies of the required safety data sheets in the workplace. On or about March 6, 2018 and at times prior, employees of West Side Fabrication, LLC were exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace without the benefit of the safety data sheets for those chemicals. Employees handle chemicals, including but not limited to, Startex Toluene solvent and Startex Methyl Ethyl Ketone for which safety data sheets (SDS) are not readily available. Toluene is a flammable and acutely toxic hazardous chemical that may cause moderate to severe irritation to the skin and eyes respectively, and may cause harmful central nervous system effects. Methyl Ethyl Ketone is a flammable chemical that may cause irritation to the eyes, skin and respiratory system. West Side Fabrication, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1260532, citation number 1, item number 2b, and was affirmed as a final order on February 7, 2018, with respect to this violation at this workplace located at 2120 Naegele Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
