Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(h)(1): Employees were working in excavations in which there was accumulated water, or excavations in which water was accumulating, and adequate precautions had not been taken to protect employees against the hazards posed by water accumulation: a. At the intersection of US Hwy 301 and County Road 525 in Sumterville Florida, employees were exposed to a caught in hazard, in that, during non-destructive testing of steel piping in a trench with type "C" soil which was 9 feet deep, 22 feet long and 9 feet wide, water was allowed to accumulate while an employee of a subcontractor was conducting non-destructive testing. As a controlling employer the Raw Construction competent person did not remove the employee of the subcontractor from the unsafe trench conditions, on or about 01/17/2018.
