Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1026(h)(1): A hazard was present or was likely to be present from skin or eye contact with chromium (VI); however, the employer did not provide appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment at no cost to employees, and/or did not ensure that employees used such clothing and equipment: (a) Employee engaged in welding activities in the welding bay was exposed to hexavalent chromium at an eight-hour time-weighted average level of 11.9 microgram per cubic meter, which exceeds the OSHA PEL of 5 microgram per cubic meter during 480 minutes of personal air sampling performed on January 19, 2018 in that an employee was wearing personal clothes without personal protective equipment which provided complete skin protection. (b) Employee engaged in welding activities in the welding bay was exposed to hexavalent chromium at an eight-hour time-weighted average level of 6.4 microgram per cubic meter, which exceeds the OSHA PEL of 5 microgram per cubic meter during 480 minutes of personal air sampling performed on January 19, 2018 in that an employee was wearing personal clothes without personal protective equipment which provided complete skin protection.
