Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.253(b)(4)(iii): Oxygen cylinders in storage were not separated from fuel-gas cylinders or combustible materials (especially oil or grease), a minimum distance of 20 feet: The employer is failing to protect employees from fire hazards associated with improperly storing compressed gas cylinders. This was most recently documented on or about Jan 4, 2018 at the Gavilon Grain Facility located at 5755 S Hoover Rd Wichita KS. At the north side of the maintenance shop, employees engaged in material handling and other activities were exposed to fire hazard in that oxygen and acetylene compressed gas cylinders were found to be stored immediately next to each other and were not separated by a 1 hour, 5 foot tall fire rated wall.
