Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.184(c)(13): Employers must not load a sling in excess of its recommended safe working load as prescribed by the sling manufacturer on the identification markings permanently affixed to the sling. The employer is failing to protect employees from crushing and/or struck-by hazards. This was most recently documented on September 9, 2017 at the Ag-Power facility located at 39706 Business Hwy 10 in Richmond, MO. An unrated sling was used to lift and suspend a John Deere Z970R commercial lawn mower during a diagnosis/repair of a right transaxle oil leak. A Service technician rigged the lawn mower with an unrated sling through an unapproved lifting point to lift and suspend the load.
