Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: (a) FRONT YARD - Employees entered and exited the trench by using a Werner eight foot step ladder to climb to the six foot bench that had been cut into the side of the trench, and the ladder only extended two feet past the upper bench surface, thereby exposing the employee(s) to possible injury, on or about August 24, 2017. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
