Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: (a) FRONT YARD - Employees entered and exited the ten foot deep trench by using a Werner eight foot step ladder to climb to the six foot bench that had been cut into the side of the trench, and then subsequently manually climbed the remaining four foot vertical side, thereby exposing the employee(s) to possible injury, on or about August 24, 2017. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
