Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:

OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: An Employee working on o near exposed energized parts f electrical equipment was not adequately supervised during the performance of live work and was not equipped with the appropriate personal protective equipment prior to working on or near exposed energized parts of electrical equipment. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct the hazard include: (1) The tailboard and job briefing forms will be revised to require he identification of the hazards, safety precautions, and PPE specific to each work location; (2) Additional raining will be provided discussing when a change in conditions requires a new tailboard briefing to be performed; (3) Training will be revised to reinforce the requirement to install protective covers when working on underground transformers; (4) The supervision requirements will be revised to require that an apprentice, within his second period or less, may only work on a two-man distribution line crew if he is under the direct control of a journeyman. (5) Direct control means that the apprentice may not perform any work on electrical apparatuses unless within reaching distance of a journeyman and each are using the PPE called for by the work being performed.
