Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause serious physical harm to employees in that the employees responsible for performing work installing plumbing and other electrical equipment on the tops of the units were exposed to a slip and fall hazard. This slip/fall hazard involves the risk of slipping off of the joists or rafters and falling onto the top of the unit. Such work should be performed within a controlled access zone by trained employees, and employees performing such work should wear appropriate footwear.
