29 CFR 1910.120(q)(3)(iv): Employees engaged in emergency response and exposed to hazardous substances presenting an inhalation hazard or potential inhalation hazard did not wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus while engaged in emergency response, until such time that the individual in charge of the ICS determined through the use of air monitoring that a decreased level of respiratory protection did not result in hazardous exposures to employees: a) On or about December 1, 2015, or prior thereto, in the Line B Compressor Room: The Tech 2 was exposed to unknown levels of ammonia while wearing a full face cartridge respirator when responding to an ammonia leak. Ammonia level measurements were not taken by employees during the response. b) On or about December 1, 2015, or prior thereto, in the Line B Compressor Room: The Tech 1 was exposed to unknown levels of ammonia while wearing a full face cartridge respirator when responding to an ammonia leak. Ammonia level measurements were not taken by employees during the response. c) On or about December 1, 2015, or prior thereto, in the Line B Compressor Room: The Generalist was exposed to unknown levels of ammonia while wearing a full face cartridge respirator when responding to an ammonia leak. Ammonia level measurements were not taken by employees during the response. d) On or about December 1, 2015, or prior thereto, in the Line B Compressor Room: The Maintenance Manager was exposed to unknown levels of ammonia while wearing a full face cartridge respirator when responding to an ammonia leak.
