29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(2)(iii): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area. Employees shall be informed of the location and availability of the written hazard communication program, including the required list(s) of hazardous chemicals, and safety data sheets required by this section: The employer does not protect each employee during plating work by providing effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area. On or about June 16, 2015, in the facility, employees required to perform plating operations were exposed to the hazard of contact with hazardous chemicals including acids, alkali cleaners and metals. Each affected employee had not been provided effective information as to the location and availability of the written hazard communication program, including the required list(s) of hazardous chemicals, and safety data sheets required by this section. To abate this hazard in the future the employer must provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area. Employees must be informed of the location and availability of the written hazard communication program, including the required list(s) of hazardous chemicals, and safety data sheets required by this section. Electronic Plating Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315157800, citation number 1, item number 11a, and was affirmed as a final order on December 6, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 1821 S. 54th Ave., Cicero, IL. 60804.
