29 CFR 1926.451(b)(5)(i): The employer does not ensure that each end of a platform 10 feet or less in length shall not extend over its support more than 12 inches (30 cm) unless the platform is designed and installed so that the cantilevered portion of the platform is able to support employees and/or materials without tipping, or has guardrails which block employee access to the cantilevered end. This violation was most recently observed on 7/30/2015 at a worksite at 51 Pleasant Street, Woburn, MA, where each end of the platform 10 feet or less in length extended over its support more than 12 inches, exposing employees to fall hazards of 21-feet, 6-inches. A S General Construction Inc. has been previously cited for this practice, as described below. A S General Construction Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.451(e)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection 1046935, citation 1, item 2b and was affirmed as a final order on June 5, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 62 Ryan Farm Road Windham, NH.
