29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c). a) Worksite, main excavation: Employees were working inside an approximately 150 feet wide and at various locations, approximately 20-50 feet deep excavation without protection from an adequate protective system exposing employees to a cave-in hazard; on or about 1/28/20. b) Worksite, leaching pit trench: Employees were working inside an approximately 15 foot deep trench dug inside the main excavation without protection from an adequate protective system exposing employees to a cave-in hazard; on or about 1/28/20. Note: In addition to abatement certification, the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
