29 CFR 1910.243(e)(4)(vi): Hand-operated wheel drive disengaging controls did not move opposite to the direction of vehicle motion in order to disengage the drive. Foot-operated wheel drive disengaging controls were not depressed to disengage the drive. Deadman controls, both hand and foot operated, did not automatically interrupt power to a drive when the operator's actuating force is removed, and may operate in any direction to disengage the drive. a. August Corso Sons, Inc. located in Sandusky, OH: On or about May 17, 2018, the employer did not ensure the Hustler Super Z zero turn riding lawnmower #1 was equipped with functioning deadman controls that automatically interrupted power to the drive system when the operators force was removed. b.
