Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): The employer did not establish a program consisting of an energy control procedure, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performed any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative: The employer is failing to protect employees from caught between, crushing, and struck-by hazards associated with the unexpected energization, start up, or release of stored energy. This was most recently documented at 530 Carl St, Butte, Nebraska on May 7, 2020 when the employer has an employee repairing a Bobcat 873 without having developed and implemented a program as means of controlling hazardous stored energy. Instances of failure include but are not limited to: 1. Lack of energy control procedures specific to the equipment 2. Lack of employee training for authorized, affected and other employees.
