29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: a. On August 19, 2019, on the 3:12 pitch roof, two employees caulking the windows of a church were not protected from a fall hazard that ranged from 6 feet to 10 feet on one section of the roof and up to 14 feet on another section of the roof.
