OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards associated with fiberglass step ladders used to support a scaffold work platform: On or about May 12, 2017, at 3585 Braselton Hwy, Dacula, Georgia: An employee performing roofing work was exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 8-11-feet when he worked from a ladder scaffold work platform that was not secured to the ladders, was not extended at least six inches over the centerline support, and one ladder was not set upon a firm foundation when a piece of wood was placed under one of the ladder's feet. Among other possible methods to abate this violation, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the requirements of ANSI/ASSE A10.8-2011 Section 17.2.7 which states that planks and platforms shall be securely fastened to the supporting members to prevent lateral movement, and shall overhang the supporting member.
