Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: (a) On or about April 3, 2013, and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to chemical burns from corrosive materials used during the drilling process without having facilities to provide a quick drench to wash corrosive chemicals from the face or body. Employees mix chemicals for drilling mud including lime which is a corrosive while in the mud house. There were two portable quick drenching stations located in the mud house and outside the mud house but did not contain water. The closest facility for quick drenching was located in the tool pusher's trailer off the drilling rig. Nabors Drilling Rig #152 location is Well Legaard 2-25HNB near Fortuna, ND. Note: This company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 316065416, Citation 2, Item 1, and was affirmed as a final order on December 24, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at the intersection of College Street and South Major Drive near Beaumont, TX.
