29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i):The employer did not ensure that each person on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that was 4 feet or more above a lower level was protected from falling by one or more of the following: a guardrail system, a safety net system or use of personal fall protection system, such as personal fall arrest, travel restraint or positioning system. U. S. Postal Service - SFNDC, Docks Area: The employer did not protect employees from falls of 4 feet and 2 3/4 inches. On 07/22/2021 an employee fell 4 feet 2 3/4 inches off dock number 54 to the ground below and sustained serious injuries. The U. S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(3)(i) , which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1463784, citation number 01, item number 001 and was affirmed as a final order on 03/30/2020, with respect to a workplace located at 2501 Rydin Road, Richmond, CA 94850.
