29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): a) On or about September 11, 2017 at 6470 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Al., new irrigation: The employer failed to provide a protective system such as a trench box, sloping, or stepping to prevent cave-in hazards to employees tapping a new 8 inch irrigation line into an existing irrigation line in a trench (foot of "L" shape trench) 6 feet 2 inches deep. b) On or about September 11, 2017 at 6470 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Al., new irrigation: The employer failed to provide a protective system such as a trench box, sloping, or stepping to prevent cave-in hazards to employees connecting a new 8 inch irrigation pipe to the previous 8 inch irrigation pipe tapped into the existing irrigation pipe at a 90 degree angle in a trench (leg of a "L" trench) 5 feet 9 inches deep.
